Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete? I imagine if Ariel saw this cool under water artist, Jason deCaires work, she would make Flounder and Sebastian drag it all into her treasure cove…

But is so AMAZING, if you haven’t heard of Jason, you definitely have seen images of his work floating around the internet. His life like sculptures slowly get taken over by the sea.

// Close to Home//

Work has taken over my thoughts and life for the past few months. There was a National Prize Show to put on! My friend Noelly, AKA Noelle Fiori, was accepted into the show! (Second Image below was accepted).

Her work is so kick ass. I have been watching Noelle create art since we were in high school. My favorite piece is still this watercolor peacock she made… Or this awesome acrylic green self portrait. It was the type of piece you saw and thought, “Damn it!! Why didn’t I think of that?”

What I really love about Noelle’s artwork NOW is that its feminine but really aggressive. Before she started to focus on physically cutting and collaging images of women, she was using live models and drawing this physical exhaustion and battle of being a WO-MAN!

Being Noelle’s friend for so long, I feel like I can look at her art and say, “Oh My God, I KNOW!” but her themes are so universal, every single woman has had a day where (above) is exactly how they felt. In Noelle’s own words:

“I am searching to convey a specifically feminine experience, both that of being subjected to physical scrutiny, and the viewing of the body as a compilation of fragmented pieces. Contorted “women” are created by reconfiguring appropriated images from mass culture. The collage exposes models’ thin arms, sun-kissed stomachs, and lengthy legs, which twist and break in on themselves. These sexualized, exploited “objects” become grotesque creatures. With my own photographs and magazine clippings I am hoping to invoke a seductively chaotic, disturbing experience.”

You would be a fool not to look at her other works HERE.

// Gettin’ Woody With It//

Wood is on the brain! As I said in my last post, I am in the lumberjack state of mind. I am in the middle of gathering wood for my soon to be dinning room table. I signed my very first lease with my boyfriend, so obviously, I MUST build all of our furniture : )

It seems the other people can’t stop getting woody with it, like this Berlin artist, Tilo Uischner. Here are a few samples of his work:

// Beachy Sense of Mind//

Last night circa, 1am I was thinking about how I had a million in the works panos. And then I just couldn’t take it anymore!! I had to make one… just make it - Set up all the photos and then I’ll do the finishing touches later…And then I couldn’t stand it… And just photoshopped my heart away. Here is the the first round of end results.

The Original…and then

TADA!!!
